Sales Promotion

Straight line discounting, voucher collection based discounting,  short-term discounting (i.e. Buy one get one free type offers), free on-pack sampling where a free sample of a new product is distributed free of charge with an existing product, in-store taste testing / trial. All the above are mechanisms employed by retailers in conjunction with their suppliers to persuade their customers to buy a particular product.  A sales strategy should define what you will sell and tell you how it will happen.
